What you may do with a reading you bought, what a star is, and the limits that come with the software around them.
What this licence covers
This licence is between you and Duckgu Studio and covers the lodestarastro.com website: its software and interface, the prepared text and design around a reading, and the readings produced for you. It applies alongside the terms of use and the refund policy, which remain the contract for buying and for getting your money back. Where this page and those pages differ on a point they both cover, those pages govern.
What you may do
While your account is in good standing, you have a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable and revocable licence to use the website and to read, keep, re-open, print and privately share the readings produced for you. Sharing a reading with someone you wrote it about, or with a friend, is ordinary personal use and is expected.
What a star is
A star is a prepaid right to have one reading produced on this website, and nothing more. One star is USD 1.00 and is spent the moment a reading is produced for the details you gave. Stars are recorded on your Lodestar account: they are not money, not a payment instrument, not a gift certificate, and they cannot be transferred to another account, sold, exchanged for cash, or spent anywhere but here. A star does not expire. The only way a star turns back into money is a refund under the refund policy.
What you may not do
- Resell, republish, syndicate or licence a reading, or present it as your own product, service or publication — including as paid readings, newsletter or course material, or app content.
- Copy, scrape or bulk-collect the website’s pages, prepared text, design or readings, whether by hand or by automated means, or use them to train or evaluate a machine-learning model.
- Reverse engineer, decompile or work around the parts that check a purchase, or use an account, a star or a reading that was not paid for on that account.
- Remove or obscure a credit, a notice or a disclaimer carried by a reading, or edit a reading and still present it as Lodestar’s.
- Use a reading to make or justify a decision with a serious effect on another person, or to harm, deceive or discriminate against anyone.
Ownership and AI-written text
The software, interface, design, prepared text and branding belong to Duckgu Studio or its licensors, and this licence transfers none of them. What you wrote — your birth details, notes, questions and journal entries — stays yours; the terms of use describe the limited rights we need in order to process it.
The readings are written by an AI service from your details. They are not unique to you: another reader with a similar chart may receive closely similar text, and neither you nor Duckgu Studio claims exclusive rights in that wording. Readings are symbolic reflection prompts for entertainment. They are not advice, they do not predict events, and they are not a substitute for a qualified professional; Lodestar is not an emergency or crisis service.
Services this licence depends on
Payment is taken on Whop’s checkout, where Whop is the merchant of record. Signing in uses Firebase Authentication, and the AI-written parts of a reading are produced with Google Vertex AI. Those services operate under their own terms and privacy notices, and this licence does not grant you any right in them. The privacy policy describes what each one receives.
How this licence ends
The licence runs until it ends. Deleting your website membership ends it, and the readings on that account stop opening. A fully refunded purchase ends the licence for that purchase: every star from it leaves your account and any reading already produced with one of them stops opening. We may restrict or end the licence where reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, material breach, abuse or the protection of other users; where it is practical and lawful to do so, we say why. Ending the licence does not by itself delete records this website must keep, and it does not remove notes stored in your own browser.
Warranty, liability and law
The website and the readings are provided on an available basis. To the extent permitted by law, Duckgu Studio does not promise uninterrupted service, freedom from defects, or the accuracy, completeness or suitability of AI-written text. Nothing here excludes liability that may not be excluded — including liability arising from intent or gross negligence — or removes a mandatory consumer protection available where you live, and nothing here limits your rights under the refund policy. This licence is governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without depriving you of the mandatory protections or local forum rights of your place of residence. English is the drafting baseline; the Japanese and Korean versions carry the same meaning and do not override mandatory local-language or consumer protections.
